Ken founded Shepherd Care International in the Fall of 2021. Ken believes God has instructed him to utilize his extensive ministry and counseling experience to equip Care Shepherds within Christian denominations, mission agencies, and para-church organizations. He is building a team of passionately gifted men and women to train and resource Care Shepherds worldwide dedicated to strengthening ministry leaders’ emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual health for increased ministry longevity and mission success.
Ken has served in ministry for 48 years, holding multiple positions, including lead and executive pastor, and has planted three churches. His wealth of pastoral experience and relational connections with ministry leaders across the United States prepared and equipped him to become the Director of Ministry for Standing Stone Ministry. When joining SSM (a retreat-based ministry for pastoral couples) during its infancy in 2012, Ken developed a Care Shepherd team designed to initiate safe, trusted, and confidential relationships lasting a lifetime at no cost to the ministry leader or their organization. Standing Stone currently serves over 5,000 ministry leaders and their spouses in the United States and 34+ nations.
Before joining Standing Stone, Ken and his wife Leslie served as directors of Marriage Growers International. As marriage educators and counselors, they have helped thousands of couples around the country and different parts of the world experience the joy and benefit of walking in unity and true partnership in their relationships.
Ken holds a Master’s degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Counseling from Denver Seminary. Ken has been married to Leslie for 43 years and loves working with her in serving ministry leaders and their spouses.
