What are Care Shepherds?
Shepherd Care International defines Care Shepherds as those whom Christian organizations have appointed to help their ministry leaders traverse the rugged terrain of personal and ministry obstacles. Life is difficult enough, but one under a magnifying glass constantly examined and criticized can cause a ministry leader to become hurt, disillusioned, discouraged, and ultimately leave their ministry assignment. Care Shepherds offer a safe and confidential relationship with ministry leaders on their team and provide support, encouragement, and counsel leading to increased health and ministry success.
Our Mission
The mission of Shepherd Care International is to train and equip Care Shepherds worldwide to strengthen, encourage, and support ministry leaders in Christian organizations.
Our purpose
Ministry leaders struggle with personal and relational issues causing many to leave their ministry assignments prematurely. Shepherd Care International exists to increase the number of ministry leaders worldwide receiving CARE (Connect – Appreciate – Relate – Encourage) from Care Shepherds who understand the pressures they face and are committed to building safe and confidential relationships with them.
Our methodology
Shepherd Care International will partner with Christian denominations, mission agencies, and para-church organizations to identify and train Care Shepherds worldwide for greater competency and effectiveness in their efforts to strengthen and support ministry leaders for mission success.
The Problem
Ministry leaders are quitting at an alarming rate due to the pressures and problems inherent in vocational ministry. Dealing with personal, relational, vocational, and spiritual issues have led many to question their ability and effectiveness in doing their job. Sharing their thoughts and struggles with others is often too risky, resulting in poor decisions and detrimental actions, often leading to their dismissal or leaving their ministry assignment.
Our Solution
Shepherd Care International is committed to serving Christian denominations, mission agencies, and para-church organizations who desire to provide the CARE so deeply needed by their ministry leaders. Our strength is in helping them develop or strengthen their existing Care Shepherd teams through training, equipping, and providing additional resources for mission success. SCI does not have a one-size-fits-all mindset. We offer assistance in developing strategies, best practices and workable solutions that bring optimum results all while being flexible and sensitive to the varying needs and types of organizations we serve.
In an environment of rising costs and uncertain funding, many ministry organizations lack the discretionary funds to build or bolster a Care Shepherd team. Since we know that God owns everything in and on the earth (Ps 24:1), we are confident that God will connect us with His stewards who have been called to open the storehouses and provide the resources needed to serve your Christian organization. Accordingly, and by faith in His promises, SCI desires to offer Care Shepherd training, consulting, and ongoing support at no cost.
